This is Art!

This is Art! is a national youth art competition in Ireland, run by public broadcaster RTÉ. Thousands of participants submit entries to the competition every year on their website. The website is also the primary place for showcasing all submissions through their digital gallery.

I was brought on to the project as a backend and JavaScript developer in 2022 by the agency responsible for the project, Post Studio. I returned to the project in 2023 to support the next round of the competition.

My task was to build the backend and JavaScript components that support the entry submission process and the digital art gallery. Performance was essential here, as we had to support a large number of artists submitting their projects to the page and being made discoverable in the art showcase.
